Equality being the change maker for the better.
The
South African female cricketers are bound to receive the same amount of match
fees as the men's team Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed on the 22nd of
August 2023 that the new policy will be implemented to boost women's cricket.
Cricket South Africa stated that the policy will come into effect when the
women's team participates in the women's tour in Pakistan which is on September
1st.
Progressive
move for women's sport: This can be considered as a
progressive move for the growth in women's sports as much as this is a
morale booster for the women's team, it however shows that equality is the way
to go forward. This will also motivate other sports and organizations to take
this initiative and implement it even further as it will make progress in having
equality in sports.
"Gender
equality is not dependent on the government; it is dependent on our advocacy
and our mindset".
The
CSA then further unveiled a league for professional cricketers which will
likely begin in the 2023-2024 season. The new league will consist of the top 6
teams, and they will form a league of their own, the teams will consist of a
head coach, assistant coach, conditioning coach, and a physiotherapist. This is
growth within the cricket department as more talent will be showcased by women
in cricket. This is what we call exciting times.
"When
we tackle inequality, it will serve us as well. Well, it will serve everyone
for the better" - A quote from the JSE CEO connect based on gender
