FC is a football club that plays in the Spanish La Liga, they finished 10th on
the log on the 2022/23 La Liga season. In comparison of the previous results of
the club, they have been known to be a called a middle tier club as it was
usually seen that the "Gironistes" would finish in the middle tier of
the log.
Coming
into the 2023/24 season: The Spanish La Liga is known
to be a league that is dominated by Spanish giants such as Real Madrid Fc, Barcelona,
and Atletico Madrid FC. Girona came into the season and surprised everyone by
winning 10 out of their 12 games into the season. Many may come and say
"the season still has a long way to go" but a club like Girona having
such outstanding performances is impressive as a football fan it may take you
back to how Leicester City FC performed in the 2015/16 season of the Premier
league.
An
unnoticed factor people may not see: The City Group bought a
major stake at Girona FC in 2017 which made them a major stakeholder of the
club by owning 44,3% share of Girona FC. The investment of City Group is
primarily known for its excellence at Manchester City, but the purchase of
shareholder stocks at Girona FC meant that the club would benefit in networks
in infrastructure, coaching, recruitment and adding onto the club's global
media, marketing, and commercial capabilities. Could this investment from 2017
have been slowly brewing to what Girona is starting to be? As this could be a
contributing factor to Girona's winning performances which is unnoticed by a
lot of football fans.
This
is an interesting time to see if Girona will hold on till the very end of the
season.
