Thapelo Maseko (19) can be described as one of the best youngsters in the DSTV premiership in the 2022/23 season as he had eye catching performances over the course of the season. He had an overall stat of 4 goals and 2 assists over a course of 24 matches played and was nominated for young player of the season. A player of his caliber is considered to be a youngster in the DSTV premiership, but one would argue that he still needs more time to develop to become an even better player as the likes of Percy Tau stayed a longer period so that their development is intact for transfers abroad.

Interest in Belgium: Thapelo has however been linked for a move to Westerlo in Belgium after having an eye-catching season of what he can produce. The interest from Westerlo lasted for a long time as Supersport rejected three bids that was submitted from Westerlo which shows that Supersport and Westerlo could not come to an agreement that was suitable for the two clubs. The question is, was it the right time for him to go to Westerlo if there was an agreement between SuperSport and Westerlo, as everything has been happening so quickly as soon as clubs could see what Thapelo Maseko could produce.

Sundowns transfer:  In contrast the transfer to Sundowns surprised a lot of football fans, as fans were having the thought that Thapelo Maseko would either stay at SuperSport or leave for a move to Belgium. The move to Sundowns however left a lot of question marks, as there is already a lot of players that are just like Thapelo Maseko. It is a matter of letting time take its course as there are players that were transferred from SuperSport and are doing well at Sundowns such as the likes of Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule.

It all comes to see what Thapelo Maseko can produce in the 23/24 season.
