Will Bafana Bafana make it through to the knockout stages?

Two games into Afcon, can Bafana Bafana make it through to the knockout stages.

People often say that "Argentina also lost their first game during the world cup campaign." Could this phrase be used by Bafana Bafana fans to draw a glimpse of hope in South Africa's Afcon campaign. All will be known as to get through to the knockout stages, only two teams in each group can go through to the knockout stages which requires teams to take chances that present themselves during games.

South Africa vs Mali: The African Cup of Nations has proved that teams will not win based on the reputation that they have, as everyone at the tournament is there to compete. Fans stated that South Africa should have won their first encounter of the tournament against Mali, because they displayed a great performance in the first half, but it all was not working out in the second half as Mali capitalized on the mistakes that South Africa made during the game. On South Africa's side, is there a problem with the center back pairing? Is there a problem with converting goals? its back to the drawing board for Hugo Broos. 

South Africa vs Namibia: This was a game between two teams whereby Namibia won their first game of the tournament and South Africa lost their first encounter of the tournament. Going into the game, Namibia had to work on keeping the momentum going by winning and for Bafana, it was about bouncing back and getting their 3 points against Namibia. Bafana used their game against Namibia to show the continent that they are still in this tournament and will not give up. Bafana Bafana displayed a quality performance to clinch a 4-0 victory over Namibia. As it stands South Africa are second on the table in Group E of the African cup of nations. As it stands, it looks like Hugo Broos went back to the drawing board and used those mistakes to learn on how the team could improve going forward. 

 

For South Africans and Namibian's, it's time to take out those calculators as game three of the African Cup of Nations will be very vital as Mali, South Africa and Namibia will all want to qualify for the round of 16 but only two teams can go through. It will be a very interesting encounter to see if Bafana Bafana will go through to the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations.
